Visiting Iford - Facilities

Gardens The Garden

The gardens were created by acclaimed garden designer and architect Harold Peto (a mentor and friend of Lutyens) and are currently under going a major replant. In 2014 Iford also celebrates the centenary of the Italianate cloister.
Lutyens spent the late 1800s travelling the Mediterranean, USA and Japan, bringing back many souvenirs, some of which constitute the statuary in the garden.
Peto built the cloister in 1914 and called it his “Haunt of Ancient Peace”.
The Peto garden at Iford received the accolade of Historic Houses Association / Christie’s “Garden of the Year” award in 1998.
The Peto garden is open to visitors, for opening times visit www.ifordmanor.co.uk
